Broadcast IP, Audio & Video Engineering (BIPAVE)
Build the knowledge and practical skills to support modern broadcast IP networks and audio and video workflows.
This five-day SICTA Professional Programme combines guided theory, practical laboratory activities and realistic broadcast scenarios. Participants progress through six cumulative labs covering network commissioning, multicast and IPTV, timing and audio, video and OTT delivery, service protection, troubleshooting and documentation.
The programme explores digital audio and video fundamentals, IP addressing and subnetting, VLANs, multicast, AES67, SMPTE ST 2110, Precision Time Protocol (PTP), video compression, HLS, MPEG-DASH, NDI, Quality of Service (QoS), redundancy and broadcast network security.
What you will learn
By completing the programme, you will be better equipped to:
Verify network interfaces, IP addressing, switch ports and intended connectivity.
Receive multicast media and interpret IGMP membership and forwarding evidence.
Inspect PTP operation and explain timing requirements for broadcast media.
Interpret audio stream parameters and troubleshoot interoperability scenarios.
Verify local video and OTT services, including manifests, segments and playback.
Explain QoS, security and redundancy controls for broadcast networks.
Diagnose faults using commands, logs, packet captures and service observations.
Record findings and produce clear technical documentation.
How you will learn
Learning combines facilitator demonstrations, supervised Ubuntu-based labs, Wireshark analysis, embedded knowledge questions and eight case studies. Specialist technologies are explored through supplied configuration scenarios where suitable equipment is unavailable.
The LMS provides access to learning resources and supports revision alongside facilitated delivery. The programme concludes with a guided two-hour integration project that brings together the learning from the six labs.
