Description

The Fibre Optic Technician Course (FOT) is a practical, 5‑day classroom programme designed to equip learners with the essential skills required to work confidently with modern fibre optic networks. Through facilitator‑led instruction and hands‑on activities, participants learn how to install, splice, test, and maintain fibre infrastructure used across telecommunications environments.

Refund Policy

  • A full refund is payable if the participant cancels 7 days or more before the scheduled start date.
  • A 10% cancellation fee is deducted from the refund payable if the cancellation request is received between 2 days and 6 days before the scheduled start date, in case of cancellation by the participant.
  • No refund will be payable for requests received on or after the start date; however, in cases of legal or medical emergencies, the participants may be accommodated in subsequent scheduled classes.
  • If Supreme ICT Academy initiates the cancellation, an alternate date will be proposed to the candidate participants. If the alternative date does not suit the candidate, she/he can apply for a refund.

No. This programme is aligned to a recognised Unit Standard, but it is not a SAQA‑registered course/programme. Upon successful completion, participants receive a Certificate of Achievement issued by Supreme ICT Academy.

Am I guaranteed employment upon completion of this certificate?

Do I need prior experience to enrol in this course?
No prior fibre‑optic experience is required. The course is designed for beginners and working professionals who want to enter or upskill within the fibre and telecommunications sector. Basic computer literacy and a willingness to learn technical skills are beneficial.
Is the course practical, theoretical, or both?
The programme includes both theory and hands‑on practical training. Participants work with real fibre tools, testing equipment, and installation scenarios to ensure they are job‑ready.
Are tools and equipment provided during training?
Yes. All tools, consumables, and testing equipment required for practical sessions are provided during the training. Participants do not need to bring their own equipment.
Can I bring my own fibre tools or equipment to the training?
Yes. Participants are welcome to bring their own fibre tools or testing equipment if they wish to increase familiarity with the devices they use at work. Supreme ICT Academy provides all tools and equipment required for the practical sessions, so bringing your own is optional.
